There were great scenes in the EMX250 race in Spain as Revo Husqvarna’s Martin Barr took victory in the second moto, but yesterday’s race winner Mel Pocock ended up on the final step of the podium thanks to his win in Redand yesterday.

Six years after he last won the EXM250 series, Pocock is back having fought through the pain and mental anguish of almost losing his hand in a race crash. He won the first race and was ninth in the second to claim the final podium spot, one point in front of Barr. Steven Clarke was sixth overall in his return to the series.

Barr had a storming second moto, taking the win while fellow Brit Steven Clarke came home eighth, one spot in front of Pocock, James Dunn 15th and Josh Spinks 18th.

In the EMX300 class, defending champ Brad Anderson didn’t get the best of starts but came though quickly. He was catching the leader and had the quickest lap time of the race but made a mistake and fell. He came back to third in the moto, and said: “It shows my speed is there can’t wait for the next round.”

Mike Kras took a double win on his GL12 KTM to take over the lead in the series from Greg Smets, second overall at Redsands following his double win in Holland last week.

Ando only got sixth overall but is third in the series, 15 points behind former champ Kras. No other British riders scored points in Spain.
