The final round of the Judd KTM British Youth National Championship and British Under 21 Championship will take place on Weston-super-Mare beach on October 27 -28. Just five days after the annual Weston Beach Race event, the RHL Activities track team which consists of Johnny Groves and other key UK track builders will bulldoze the entire beach and sculpt a motocross track in preparation for the UK’s elite youth and Under 21 riders to battle it out for the 2018 Championship titles. It is the first time that a round of the Judd KTM British Youth National Championship and Steve Benton Transport British Under 21 Championship will take place on a beach.
The RHL Activities team is well underway with plans for the final round at Weston-super-Mare and further information will be announced in the coming months.
2018 will see Weston-super-Mare host two prestigious motorsports events with the 36thedition of the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race taking place on October 19 to 21 with the Official ACU British Youth and Under 21 Motocross Championships racing on the weekend after.
Gareth Hockey and the RHL team are working closely with North Somerset Council to bring a further two major motorsport events to the iconic beach over the next two years, with plans to bring the British Motocross Festival to Weston in 2019 and a motocross event which has never been to the UK before in 2020. It’s great to see the Council showing a strong commitment to the British Motorsport scene.
Gareth Hockey, Director of RHL Activities
“I am pleased to be bringing the Judd KTM British Youth National Championship and Steve Benton Transport British Under 21 Championship to Weston-super-Mare for the final round of each series. The beach will be flattened after the HydroGarden Weston Beach Race and by Friday a motocross circuit will be created by our track team for the final showdown of the 2018 Championships. I would like to thank the North Somerset Council for granting us permission to compete on the beach, which brings another new dimension to the series and gives the youngsters a taste of the toughest conditions to race on.”
Cllr Felicity Baker, North Somerset Councils Executive Member for Tourism
“We are delighted to be working with RHL Activities to bring a second major motorsport event to Weston this year. It’s another welcome addition to our growing programme of events throughout the year and one that will bring huge benefits to the town and its businesses outside of the main summer season.”
