Fresh from a podium place in the Romaniacs where he extended his lead in the World Enduro Super Series on Sunday, Red Bull KTM factory rider Jonny Walker is to take to a 150 KTM two-stroke to contest the Apico 2-Stroke Festival at Sellindge in Kent at the weekend.

Walker, who usually races a 300cc two-stroke in the extreme world series, says he’s doing the event ‘just for fun’ – hence his choice of a 150. But once a racer, always a racer and you can guarantee he’ll be trying as hard as he can to take home the winner’s trophy and a share of the £2000 prize money.

He’ll be in the Fastest class, and will face tough opposition from the likes of Josh Spinks who raced a 150 KTM to victory in the opening round at Ironworks in Middlesborough. This time out, Spinks will be on a new 2019 KTM 250 – once again a borrowed bike he’s yet to ride. His first laps on the bike will be at the Sellindge track which mixes old-school sections with some modern parts, too. Spinks, who says he’s going to race the last round of the series on a 500 so he’ll have ridden a different class bike at each round – was one of three riders to score the exact same points in Sunday’s British championship at Duns. But he was robbed of the overall victory by his last race score, putting him third overall.

Also out at Sellindge is former British supercross champion and two-stroke fan Nev Bradshaw. Bradshaw, who represented South Africa in both the MX of Nations and the Vets MX des Nations last year, will race in both the modern classes and Evo class on a Honda CR500. He’ll face riders like ex-GP man Brian Wheeler and Evo bike king Barry Turnbull on his immaculate CR500s.

There are classes for all levels of rider on all two-strokes, and a class for youths on 85s where Apico recently revealed one lucky 85cc rider will win a sponsorship package worth £5000 for 2019 from the title sponsor.

There are still entries available in all classes, the track has been worked on for weeks to make sure it’s in prime condition, there’s a beer tent, trade stalls and lots more. Entries are available from HERE.
