Two top British championship contenders are out of action after picking up injuries.

In the MCX2 class, Ashton Dickinson is out after breaking bones in his hand – despite racing with the injury at the last round in Desertmartin. He was third overall at the recent Blaxhall round and is currently seventh in the series.

“Bit of a bump in the road,” he said on social media. “Since Desertmartin two weeks ago I haven’t been on bike due to pain in my hand. I got a quick MRI scan yesterday and the result was that I have broken my index knuckle and two fractures from said knuckle to my wrist.

“I don’t thing racing both motos at Desertmartin helped at all but unfortunately I am missing this weekend’s racing at the MX Nationals. Still resting it and hoping I can manage the pain for the Maxxis at Hawkstone. Time will tell.”

MX1 ace James Dunn is out with concussion after crashing last week. “Unfortunately last week I had a little crash and suffered a concussion,” said the man who finished third in his last Maxxis MX1 moto at Desertmartin. “I’ve been to see the doc a few times for some scans and checks and I’m going to have to have some time off the bike to recover.

“Very frustrating but concussion is something that is often over looked and not handled properly. Hopefully I will be back to 100% soon and go from there!”
