Who said Americans couldn’t ride sand? Justin Cooper sets the quickest time in the MX2 class on a track he’s never seen before at Assen for the MX of Nations. Adam Sterry is sixth while Martin Barr is 17th for Ireland.

And in MXGP, Jeffrey Herlings goes quickest – more than a second faster than anyone else. Briton Nathan Watson is fourth! Ireland’s Jason Meara is 28th.

In MX Open, Glenn Coldenhoff is fastest – setting up the Dutch home team clearly as favourites as Calvin Vlaanderen was second in MX2. Shaun Simpson was fifth and Stuart Edmonds 26th for Ireland.

And as usual, the slowest nations are Cyprus, Greece, Croatia Israel, Ukraine and Luxembourg with woefully slow riders, the majority around half a minute per lap slower than the quickest men.
