After organising new deals with the riders and sponsors, Apico Husqvarna will be back in 2020 with official support from Husqvarna Motorcycles UK, an additional member to the team and a class change for one of the riders.
After 26 years of racing, it will be a return to 2 stroke for Jamie Law as he will be riding the Husqvarna TC250 in the upcoming season. The last competitive season Jamie had on a 2 stroke was way back in 2002, though he’s recently been back out on the smoker and had some great fun.
Jamie Law: “I’ve ridden tracks I usually practise on and found the line choices have been different on the 2 stroke and have been enjoying the bike. I’ll be competing in the MX2 class at the ACU British Championship and selected races in the U.K. With the MX2 class now accepting 250 2 strokes, I feel it’s more of a level playing field. Some days you might even have an advantage in the deeper stuff off the gate. It’s the rule change that’s given me the desire to ride the 2 stroke again competitively. There’s a very good chance I’ll be competing in the EMX 2t class of the MXGP in Italy, Czech and Finland. Matt Burrows will be mixing it up in the MX2 class this coming season, having the option to switch between 250 2 & 4 stroke machinery. Matt has shown his strengths in 2019 at the Apico 2 Stroke Festival and in the EMX 2t class of the MXGP at Matterley Basin. Matt has shown great promise on the 2 stroke, and we are expecting some good results from him in MX2.
Stuart Edmonds will be competing in the premier class aboard his 2020 FC450 that has a stacked field and promises great racing. After a solid performance at the Motocross des Nations, helping Team Ireland to get into the A final, it’ll be exciting to see him carry this form into the new season. Stuart will be able to fully concentrate on his racing in 2020, as he has decided to dedicate his time completely to the sport.
We’d like to welcome Jack Lindsay back into the team. Jack rode for Apico Husqvarna on a TC 85 in 2016 & 2017 and has returned on the Husqvarna FC 250 2020 to contest the ACU British Motocross Youth Championship and the Bridgestone British Masters. Jack has been developing his riding skills over the past couple of years and is now stepping up to the 4 stroke still competing at national level.
Dylan Brown: We have a great team of people at Apico Husqvarna and there’s a lot of fun in the lead up to the events before the serious element kicks in, performing at the pinnacle of British Motocross. This year we’ve negotiated further support from Husqvarna Motorcycles U.K. which allows the riders and the team to have the best of everything available to them including WP Suspension and an increased spares budget to make sure we have the right tools to do the job. The lads have also pledged to give more time to their training to ensure we can improve on the results achieved in the 2019 season.
