Yamaha’s Jago Geerts bounced back from a spectacular crash to take the overall win in a nail-biting British MX2 GP at Matterley Basin.
He won the first moto after runaway leader, KTM’s Tom Vialle, went down twice and had to fight his way back into the top ten, taking sixth. Then Geerts went down hard in the second moto, and came back through to take fourth place. That was good enough for the overall.
But Vialle made amends in moto two by battling with his team mate Rene Hofer and taking the win. Hofer held onto second.
Kawasaki’s Mikkel Haarup took third overall thanks to a pair of fine third places.
After stunning opening moto when he was fourth, Conrad Mewse had a tough second outing and finished ninth overall.
Ben Watson, recently coming back from injury, took seventh in the opener then didn’t score second time out. He had no rear brake but carried on riding and just finished outside the points.
Josh Gilbert was 22nd overall after a disappointing day, Taylor Hammal and Ashton Dickinson failed to score.
