Jago Geerts doesn’t need surgery for the shoulder injury (cracks in the head of his shoulder) he picked up in Pietramurata on Sunday.

Geerts crashed in the ultimate race of the season in Pietramurata and landed heavily on his left shoulder. After a first examination at the medical centre the doctors diagnosed a fracture in the head of his shoulder. Extra examination in Belgium, with Dr. Tom Claes at the hospital in Herentals, revealed no fracture but some crack in the head of his shoulder.

A strict rest period of four weeks is necessary for the injury to heal naturally. After this period Geerts – vice world champion MX2 in 2020 – has to go for a medical check-up. Only when he gets the green light then, he can start an intensive rehabilitation program with his physiotherapist to loosen the joint, muscles and tendons. To rebuild the lost muscle mass Jago must count on a few more weeks of training.
