MX1 saw Stuart Edmonds take to the line with the 9th gate pick, choosing a position centre-left of the field. Stuart got the jump, a great start that positioned him well inside the top 10 riders. Stuart’s momentum throughout the race was consistent, closing the gap on 2 British Champions ahead of him whilst in 6th position. A small mistake saw him lose a place though he carried his momentum with a solid race performance crossing the line in 7th place. MX1 race 2 Stuart managed another start inside the top 10, though by the halfway point a few riders had passed him and he crossed the line 14th for 11th overall on the day. Stuart: “A great start to the series! Race 1 was a personal best at the British Championship and showed the results after the work put in over the winter. I’m looking forward to the second round at Lyng and will be aiming for a top 5 finish. The Pro Riders lined up on Sunday with MX2 going out first. With the Husqvarna TC250 machinery now able to compete in the same class as the 250F’s, this was the first outing for Jamie Law and Matt Burrows on two-stroke machinery at the British Championship. Race 1 was abandoned after an on-track incident resulted in a red flag. The restart saw Jamie Law make a decent start and give a good performance to cross the line in 11th place. Race 2 saw Jamie make a really good start at the front, though a technical issue with the back brake soon became apparent. Jamie tried to ride with the issue though crashed and decided to abandon the race on safety grounds. Matt Burrows had managed to hit his shoulder on a post in the red-flagged race 1. Lining up for the restart he found controlling the bike difficult though still managed to finish getting the bike over the line in 29th position. The pain in race 2 proved too much, with Matt struggling to control the bike, and he had to abandon the race. |
Saturday saw the start of the MXY2 campaign with Jack Lindsay, aboard his Husqvarna FC250, getting the win in both race 1 & 2. After a good start, Jack went down hard early on in race 3. After collecting himself and re-starting at the back of the field, he managed to work his way back to 10th and 7th in class. A 4th in Sunday’s race meant 2nd overall at the end of the weekend and a good start to the championship for Jack. |
Dylan: “The weekend has had its highs and lows. Great rides from Stuart Edmonds and Jack Lindsay. Strong performances from Jamie though he had a technical in the second that hampered a great overall result. Matt was unlucky in picking up an injury and we’re awaiting the results from his specialist to make sure he’s okay for round 2 at Lyng. Stuart’s first ride has shown all the determination and effort he’s put in over the winter period has paid off, and he can be pushing for the results we know he can achieve. Race 2 was a little disappointing after race 1, though Stuart knows what he has to do going forward. I’m looking forward to Lyng and some strong team performances at the second round of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship fuelled by Gulf Race fuels at the end of the month”. |
