MX Nationals boss Paul Irwin did not agree with the date change of the Revo British championship at Foxhill, which was announced by organisers RHL this morning, as it now clashes with day one of the Hawkstone Park MX Nationals.

The Foxhill Revo round has been moved from Sunday June 13 to Saturday June 19 – now clashing with the first day of the two-day MX Nationals at Hawkstone Park. This year, the MX Nationals have all classes including pro racing on the Saturday and Sunday. So riders – from the youth to pro classes – will have to miss the British championship or race at Foxhill on Saturday, missing day one of the MX Nationals, then drive to Hawkstone to compete on Sunday.

The Revo round swap is to avoid a date clash with the Russian GP, which means riders like Shaun Simpson, Conrad Mewse, Adam Sterry and Taylor Hammal will be able to ride the GP and British. But the new clash will leave British-based riders not happy.

The RHL press release said: “Gareth Hockey would like to especially thank Paul Irwin who has worked alongside him and the RHL Team in trying to find this workable solution, of changing the date and race day.”

Irwin immediately posted a comment on MotoHead’s Facebook page about the Revo news, saying: “I didn’t work with RHL on this. I said it wouldn’t work. Feel sorry for the riders getting screwed by the ACU again.”

We contacted him and he confirmed he hadn’t agreed to the date clash, telling RHL it was a bad idea and saying splitting the entry between two different championships would ultimately weaken the entry in both series.

He said moving his Hawkstone Park race was not an option, as the organising Salop club could not accommodate a different date.

The MX Nationals and Revo British championship clash dates again on August 29 with the Revo series at Duns in Scotland and MX Nationals at Cusses Gorse in Wiltshire.
