Tommy Searle is missing Sunday’s MX Nationals final at Cusses Gorse to race in a Falcon club meeting at Duns in a bid to get ready for next week’s crucial Revo British championship penultimate round. He’s currently tied on points with Harri Kullas at the top of the table with two rounds left, so racing at Duns will give him some time to dial the Crendon Fastrack Honda in perfectly for the Scottish track. It also seems Jake Nicholls will be back for the race at Duns which could aid Searle’s bid. There’s no news as to whether the team’s 250 man Jay Hague could be drafted into the MX1 class, though, in a bid to take more points away from Kullas. The official Honda statement says:
“Crendon Fastrack Honda’s MX2 star Jay Hague will be aiming to take his great run of form to an even higher level in this weekend’s MX Nationals finale at Cusses Gorse. He’s been second overall in the last two championship rounds, including taking a moto win at the last round at Landrake on Sunday on his Honda CRF250R. He hopes to end of the series with an overall win.
“With the MX Nationals MX1 championship already decided, his team-mate Tommy Searle takes his Crendon Fastrack Honda CRF450R north of the border where he will contest a round of the Falcon MXC’s championship at Duns.
“It’s an ideal shakedown test prior to the final ACU British championship round at the track a week later. He is currently tied at the top of the points table, so there is all to play for as the series reaches its climax.
“Searle’s 450 team-mate Jake Nicholls, who crashed heavily in the last British round at Blaxhall, is hoping to be fully fit so he can contest the Duns British championship round. Nicholls is making good progress and is back on a bike but only wants to return to top-level racing once he is 100% fit.
“Team manager Dave Thorpe said: ‘Jay has had a great run of form in the past few events despite carrying some injuries. He’s now back to full speed and I know he’ll give it his all this weekend at Cusses Gorse.
“We have always been great supporters of the MX Nationals championship but with the MX1 title won, our focus must be on giving Tommy Searle the best possible chance of winning the ACU British title and we believe this is the best way to do it. And thanks to the Falcon MXC club who have made him welcome at Duns this weekend.”
