Webb wins Paris opener as Jett falls

Many expected Tom Vialle, Jo Shimoda or Jett Lawrence on the podium of the first day at the Paris Supercross, but none of them made it! They all made a mistake in one of the three races of the evening, leaving the field open to Anthony Bourdon and Cooper Webb, winners in SX2 and SX1 respectively.

As usual this first night of racing at the Paris la Defense Arena was ‘sold out’ and the enthusiast fans were there to see some of the best Supercross riders racing three motos – and a super pole session for each class – and delivering once more exciting and undecided races.

In the SX2 class Jo Shimoda and Tom Vialle made a mistake each – Tom in the first race, Jo in the final one – both scored a bad result – a twelfth place for Tom, an eleventh for Jo – preventing them to be on the podium of the day even though they won all three races. It was therefore consistency that prevailed, and Anthony Bourdon (3/4/2) won the jackpot, followed by Calvin Fonvieille (2/3/6) and Maxime Desprey (4/5/4) for a full French podium, ahead of Tom (12/1/1) and Jo (1/2/11) who nevertheless remain in the race for the title of Prince of Paris.

In the SX1 class, Jett Lawrence was closed to have a perfect evening, being the fastest in the super pole session before dominating the three races of the evening. But hampered by a lapper he made a mistake at the end of the second heat and damaged his bike, leaving Malcom Stewart and Cooper Webb to fight for the overall victory. At the start of the final heat the two rivals were tied, and their fight would not end until the finish flag, with Cooper Webb (2/1/2) winning this battle and the overall to climb onto the highest step of the podium ahead of Malcom Stewart (2/2/3), Dylan Ferrandis (4/4/4), Hunter Lawrence (5/3/5) and Jett Lawrence (1/13/1).

First race of the schedule, the round of the French SX2 championship was dominated by Calvin Fonvieille who won ahead of Maxime Desprey and Charles Lefrançois.
