The MXGP at Charlotte in the USA scheduled for September 3 has been axed and an alternative venue is being sought. The event was first run last year and is a double blow for the world championship in the USA as both events initially scheduled there for 2017 – the Charlotte GP and the Motocross of Nations at Glen Helen have now both been axed.
The famous Maggiora circuit, due to hold an MXGP on June 25 – is also no in doubt as the circuit is running into difficulties with environmentalists. It’s thought the track may have to be closed. If a solution can’t be found, it’s likely the race will move to Mantova in northern Italy.
The Qatar race, now at the end of its five-year deal, looks unlikely to continue in 2018 as a new deal has not yet been signed.
