Gajser and Jonass top Argentina qualifying

World champ Tim Gajser won the MXGP qualifying race at the Argentinian GP while KTM’s Pauls Jonass claimed victory in the MX2 race from his team-mate Jorge Prado.

In the MXGP class, Glenn Coldenhoff snatched the holeshot but it didn’t take ong for Honda man Gajser to get into the lead and take a clear win.

Yamaha’s fast-starting Jeremy Van Horebeek rode hard to take second place while eight-times world champ Tony Cairoli tailed him home in third.

Many of the fast men went down in a first corner crash including Jeffrey Herlings, Clement Desalle and the whole factory Husky team of Max Nagl, Max Anstie and Gautier Paulin.

Anstie came back through to ninth, one place behind Shaun Simpson. Jake Nicholls was 19th.

In the MX2 class, holeshot specialist Prado led from Jonass on the first lap but the Latvian soon came by and cleared off to an easy win from the Spaniard.

Third was American Darien Sanyei, riding for the British Monster Kawasaki team, as crashed hindered many of the top men like championship leader Julien Lieber, Indonesian GP winner Jeremy Seewer and Thomas Kjer Olsen.

Ben Watson was 15th, Adam Sterry 17th and Conrad Mewse 23rd.
