Briton Max Anstie took a fine third place in the qualifying race for the Mexican GP at Leon, behind his team-mate Gautier Paulin and winner Tim Gajser. Shaun Simpson was 12th and Jake Nicholls 17th.

American Thomas Covington won the MX2 heat from Pauls Jonass and Julien Lieber. Adam Sterry was 10th and Ben Watson 14th.
