Former British champ Shaun Simpson hurt his ankle at the weekend’s Dutch Masters race but should be OK to race at the Italian GP on Sunday.
In the Dutch Masters of Motocross at Hafsen, he qualified well, and was holding steady in fourth place in the first heat. A spurt near the end of the race allowed him to pass Jeffrey Herlings and Gautier Paulin, but just as he looked set to finish in that position, he crashed heavily. He injured his ankle, but managed to finish fifth.
Shaun’s ankle received some treatment between the races and he gritted his teeth to hold onto third position for a long time during race two. A problem forced him out of the race, though, and that spelled the end of an eventful day.
