Kegums agrees three more years for GPs

Youthstream is proud to announce an agreement for the MXGP of Latvia to continue its place on the FIM Motocross World Championship Calendar for the next three years. The renewed agreement is a culmination of work among Youthstream, the local organizers, the Latvian Motorcycle Federation and the Latvian government.

Today marked the signing of the agreement by Youthstream’s Vice President, David Luongo, MXGP of Latvia local Organizer Kristers Sergis and the new President of the Latvian Motorcycle Federation Martins Lazdovskis, which assures that the MXGP of Latvia will take place in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

Youthstream Vice President and Head of operations David Luongo said: “It is a great pleasure to continue to bring the MXGP World Championship to Latvia for the next 3 years. Every year MXGP is becoming more and more popular and the requests to organize a Grand Prix from all around the world are exploding. On the other hand it is very important for Youthstream to strengthen our relationships with historically best Organizers, and the Grand Prix of Latvia, here in Kegums, is one of them. The venue, the track, the facilities and the quality of the organization are simply great. The collaboration with the Organizer Kristers Sergis and the President of the Latvian Motorcycle Federation Martins Lazdovkis are also very good. On last Thursday we were invited for a meeting by the Prime Minister of the country, Mr. Maris Kucinskis which showed the high level of interest of Latvia to continue to host such an event. When the National Government, the National Federation and the Organizer are so happy and positive to receive the opportunity to organize an MXGP World Championship event, the MXGP World Championship feels proud of the work accomplished!”

MXGP of Latvia local Organizer Kristers Sergis stated: “We are really happy that Youthstream is renewing the contract with us. For me the new challenge started 3 years ago and we do our best to improve the facilities every year. I also hope people enjoy staying in Latvia, for a small country it is very important to host such a great event like the FIM Motocross World Championship. I also wish to say thank you to Martins, the new President of the Latvian Federation for his support on this event”

President of the Latvian Motorcycle Federation Martins Lazdovskis concludes: “First I wish to thank Youthstream for trusting that such event could happen here in Kegums and Krister Sergis for the efforts that he put into the improvement of the facilities. This shows the great cooperation between Youthstream and the local Organizers. Many countries now wish to be part of the Motocross World Championship calendar and we are very proud to be included for the next 3 years.”
