Britain’s two-stroke fans have come out strong in support of the all-new Apico 2-Stroke festival which already has the biggest entry of smokers in the UK since 2010. And race entries are still coming in as riders bid to win a slice of the £1590 prize money! For more details and to enter go to Apico 2-Stroke Festival!
There are still places available to race in the event which is at Sellindge, Kent this weekend – August 5-6. And if you just want to come and watch, it’s FREE for spectators and to camp, too.
And there will be prize money up for grabs in all classes. The prize money in each of the classes is:
Fastest – £150, £100, £75; Fast – £100, £75, £50; Evo – £100 £70 £50; Super Evo – £100 £70 £50, Twin shocks – £50. As there are Fast and Fastest classes in both 125 and open categories, that means £1590 in prize money!
The track is a mix of old-school, with grassy sections, and new school but with no supercross-style sections. So it’s ideal for not only modern bikes but Evo and twin-shocks, too. It’s been revamped by top GP track builder Justin Barclay.
The event schedule is that on Saturday there will be Free practice, Timed practice and two races per class. Sunday will see another practice first followed by two races. The top three riders in each adult class will receive trophies, plus Pro Green products. And the prize money as appropriate.
The gates will be open from noon on Friday and the gate will be open until Sunday night. Entry is free for spectators and so is the camping, but there is no running water on site so please bring enough for the event.
There’s a beer tent, open from Friday, with views over the track and on Saturday there will be music will be provided by Jon Barfoot and Nick Shaw.
Sponsor Apico will be bringing some of its finest Evos to showcase, and the spares van is provided by Chester motorcycles. Winchester foods will be there with his finest refreshments with a burger van, ice cream van and doughnuts.
MotoHead Magazine and peek drones will be covering the meeting and there will be loads of photos on the MotoHeadMag.com website.
The programme is a free downloadable App from MotoHead. Just search for MotoHead Magazine on the Apple Store, Google Play or Amazon App stores. It’s totally free.
When riders sign on they receive a £50 voucher from DEP off a complete exhaust system, and there’s 20% off Zeronine MX, Pro Green and Apico hard parts bought from Chester Motorcycles.
Organsier Dave Willet said: “We are proud of what we have already achieved and it will only grow each year from here on.
“The two-stroke scene was thought to be dead. But over the past few years it’s grown massively for both modern and older bikes.
“There are many reasons why Evos and even modern two strokes are huge at the moment, as everyone can work on the bike and customise it which gives a great sense of pride to the rider. Not everyone takes their bike to the dealers unless they really have a major mechanical. Working on your bikes is part the sport.
“The event is geared for fun for grass roots racer.”
