Martin Barr has been dropped from Ireland’s Nations team, which will be Stuart Edmonds in MX3, Jason Meara in MX1 and Jake Sheridan in MX2. Barr isn’t even reserve, that’s Glenn McCormick.

Barr has been a mainstay of the team for over a decade and although is not having his best season due to injury, is on the comeback trail. The move seems to be a politically-driven decision as last week Philip McCullough resigned as team manager for the event at Mantova next month.

The official statement says:

Following a meeting of the motocross commission, we are pleased to confirm the team for the 2021 Motocross of Nations will be as follows:

MX3 – Stuart Edmonds
MX1 – Jason Meara
MX2 – Jake Sheridan
Reserve rider – Glenn McCormick
