After making a partial recovery and feeling fit enough to get on the race pace, Martin Barr was again the sole contender to line up for the Apico Husqvarna team. The new-to-the-calendar venue of Schoolhouse MX in the Northeast was the location for the penultimate round of the REVO British Motocross Championship. The conditions were blustery, which meant the team was not able to have the full new-look setup on display. |
Martin: “I enjoyed the track, it was nice to have something new on the calendar, and being in the north, I thought it gave spectators from other parts of the country a chance to enjoy the REVO British Motocross Championship. I knew it was not going to be an easy weekend, having not been able to ride for 4 weeks out from the injuries I sustained it was always going to be tough, though I was well enough to get some race time under my belt and start progressing toward the kind of results I know I’m capable of.I knew the race intensity was going to be tough, but I needed to get through it and take the positives from the weekend. I did not have a great start in the first race running just inside the top 20 after the first couple of laps. Race 2 was a much better start after settling into the weekend, running just outside the top 10 off the start. By the midpoint, I had settled into 15th and made a place before the flag for 14th finishing the weekend 14th overall in MX1.There were many positives I took from the weekend, even though I knew it would be a struggle. I needed race time after a tough 4 weeks in recovery and I’ve done everything I can behind the scenes to get back to racing. The weekend’s results are there to build on. I feel better prepared for this weekend at the MX Nationals at Oxford, Schoolhouse was the starting point of race recovery and if I hadn’t competed, I would not know where my race speed was. I’d like to thank Dylan & Anna and Apico Husqvarna for supporting me during this tough recovery period, as well as all my private sponsors and family. I’m looking forward to pushing on and finishing the season on a high.”Dylan: “It was a pleasant change to have a Northern track on the calendar, though mother nature did bring its challenges with the wind. However, we managed to have a weekend where Martin was able to build upon his race time and take steps in recovering from the injuries he sustained 4 weeks ago. I was a little concerned it may have been too soon for Martin to race, though he convinced me he was ready, something only he knows himself.Last weekend was more of a baseline test, and we are ready to go again with Martin at the Michelin MX Nationals at the new Oxford Motoparc. Jack Lindsay should be with us over the weekend. He’s not ready to race, though I’m happy he wants to be part of the team and promote our brands and sponsors whilst he’s recovering. Thanks again to all who help and make Apico Husqvarna happen.” |
