The fifth round of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship, the MXGP of China in Shanghai has been rescheduled due to the terrible and exceptional weather conditions that occurred in the Shanghai region for the last four months with continuous heavy rain.
The change of date comes after the official requests of the Chinese National Federation CAMF and the local Organizer to FIM and Youthstream. The MXGP of China in Shanghai will be a major event in the annual calendar of the People’s Republic of China and up until today the exceptional non-stop period of rain completely blocked the work of preparing the venue and the build-up of the track. The forecast for the upcoming weeks is the same and those conditions could bring a high risk of cancelling the event.
The weather conditions forced the decision of holding the Shanghai Grand Prix on the 14th and 15th of September.
Meanwhile the organizing delegation for the event joined by high representatives of Shanghai region including Deputy Director General, Shanghai Administration of Sports Mr.Luo Wenhua and Deputy Mayor, Shanghai Fengxian District People’s Government Ms.Yuan Yuan that have made a visit to the MXGP of Patagonia Argentina to experience the racing first hand and prepare to host their own round. Aside from enjoying the racing the delegation has toured the facilities and will take valuable information back to Shanghai as they continue to prepare for what will now be round 18 of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship.
