Day one of the Vets MX des Nations!

Team England were sidelined in the Evo VMXdN team race when Stephen Sword crashed in practice and hurt his hand. And his bike had to be cut down from a tree! Despite that, the squad is still in the hunt despite Belgium and the USA putting in storming rides.

1979 world champ Graham Noyce was loved by the crowd

The Belgian team was hampered when Ken De Dycker was leading the moto at Farleigh Castle when his engine gave up. But former world champ Steve Ramon helped the team to top spot.

This is the moment Ken De Dycker’s motor finally gave up

And team USA’s Mike Brown won the Twin Shock and Evo VMXdN races, ably backed up by Ivan Tedesco, John Dowd and Doug Dubach. Great rides by Gordon Crockard and Nev Bradshaw – both riding for Team Ireland, were other high points, as well as Team England’s Kurt Nicoll, Mark Eastwood and Phil Mercer, as well as Neil Prince, riding for Team Wales.

Mike Brown powers to a win

Former GP star Christian Burnham made a return to racing after 14 years and led both the Super Evo motos on a 1991 Yamaha YZ490. But fitness took its toll and he had no answer for Nicoll. Other strong rides came from ex-GP ace Tom Church who dominated the 125s, Barry Turnbull in the Twin Shock VMXdN races and lots more!
