British-based Kiwi Courtney Duncan retained her WMX world title on a tie-break after ending the season on the exact same points as rival Nancy Van de Ven.
The pair clashed in the first race start, with Kawasaki rider Duncan going down after hitting Van de Ven, who then crashed in the first turn. Duncan got going quicker and came through to second then race leader Papenmeier fell, giving Duncan the win. Van de Ven was fifth.
Second time out Van de Ven took a start-to-finish win with Kiara Fontanesi and Duncan right behind. Italian Fontanesi took second while Courtney was third, to finish level on points. But Duncan had more wins so took the title.
