The popular Fox V3 RS helmet has been banned from ACU events in a shock statement from the Technical Commitee to clubs. The statement said: “URGENT. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE FOX HELMET V3 RS SHOULD NOT BE ACCEPTED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. As soon as we have the helmet back from the testing centre we will advise.”
The email was sent from email from the ACU Off Road Technical Panel Secretary, and sent to all ‘Regional & National Technical Officials for MX.’
The helmets are premium-quality lids that can cost up to £450, and come with MIPS safety technology and exceed ECE22.05 and DOT certifications, says Fox. So far there is no official explanation why the helmets are banned in the UK for ACU motocross. Several clubs already posted notices about not accepting riders wearing the helmet.
World championship leader Tim Gajser wears a Fox helmet but as it’s under FIM rules it’s legal for international races.
