MX2 championship hopeful Jago Geerts looks to be out of the weekend’s opening GP round in Russia after tearing a cruciate ligament in his knee.
The factory Yamaha man crashed in the second MX2 race of the French Elite series at Ernee on Sunday and retired from the moto.
Although there has been no official line from Yamaha, it’s believed the injury will rule Geerts out of Russia and potentially more rounds. There is a chance he will try to ride with the injury, according to sources in his home country of Belgium.
Other injured riders out of action for Russia include HRC Honda MX1 man Mitch Evans and Arminas Jasikonis.
