Gert Krestinov’s Mxxis British championship challenge has had a major blow as he suffered a broken arm while racing in Latvia the weekend.

“This is a huge blow for the team and Gert especially as we are battling for a top 3 finish in the Maxxis and MX Nationals,” said a team statement. The Estonian is currently fourth in the British championship.

“The team has drafted in top Irish rider  Jason Meara to ride in MX1 while Gert is out . We welcome Jason to the team and are confident he will do a great job.”

The squad’s other rider Carlton Husband is improving after a wrist operation and could make the Hawkstone Park Maxxis round on July 21.
