GasGas factory rider Simon Laegenfelder took his first ever qualifying race win in the MX2 GP at Matterley Basin, from Tom Vialle and Jago Geerts. And Briton Conrad Mewse was a solid eighth place, taking no risks as he got his KTM dialled in.

Laengenfelder said: “I had a super good start and was first and took a start to finish win. I found great lines and I had a perfect start.”

Kay De Wolf was second until he slid out, remounting to finish fifth behind Roan Ven De Moosdijk. Liam Everts went down in the first turn and had to retire.
