Maxxis Two-Stroke series axed

Lack of entries have forced the ACU British Two-Stroke Championship, run alongside rounds of the Maxxis British championshiop, to be axed after two seasons.

The series had been extended to six rounds this year but a lack of rider registrations has left the promoter with no option but to pull the plug.

“Obviously, I’m very disappointed,” said Series Manager Stuart Drummond. “After two good years I was confident we were going in the right direction but the entries simply are not there.

“We can’t run the championship with minimum numbers. I’m sure local entries would boost each individual round but that’s not in the spirit of a full British championship.”

The Apico 2-Stroke Festival continues and will be awarding two-stroke titles in 125cc, Evo and SuperEvo classes.

The dates for the 2019 season are as follows:

May 25th and 26th – Marshfield MX, Wiltshire.
August 3rd and 4th – Ironworks, Middlesborough
September 21st and 22nd – Sellindge MX, Kent
