Mel Pocock’s dream of winning both the European EMX250 title and the British MX2 crown have ended after his Euro title rival Mathys Boisrame clinched the EMX250 crown a round early at Sevlievo in Bulgaria today. The Frenchman won overall with a win and a second, and now has a 50 point lead over the Brit, with 50 points still up for grabs in the final round in Italy in September 29. But even if Pocock wins both remaining motos, Boisrame will still have won more so he cannot be caught in the title race.
Pocock had a nightmare opening moto with zero points scored. The REVO Husqvarna UK rider collided with another rider sending the Brit down and damaging his bike enough to result in a DNF. He took sixth today for 15 points.
