British champ Tommy Searle is planning to make his 2017 race debut at the British championship at Hawkstone Park on May 14, after deciding he’s not yet recovered enough to race Sunday’s Latvian MXGP.

Dixon Kawasaki man Searle, who injured his knee in pre-season tests in the USA in December, had surgery and has spent months off the bike. He started riding again a few weeks ago but has been keen to be fully recovered before he races again.

Searle, who was on the start list for the Latvian GP, told MotoHead he’ll be out riding this weekend as he builds up his strength and race speed again.
