A poor start where he was boxed in by his rivals then a crash while trying to overtake two riders at once on the opening lap hampered Josh Gilbert in the first EMX250 race of the year at the British GP.

He got back on and put on a charge through the field to take ninth at the flag, as best British rider.

Fellow Brit Taylor Hammal took his Yamaha to 18th place with Alexander Brown 24th after a crash on the first lap.

The race was won by Italian Alberto Forato who dominated the moto from Ruben Fernandez and Stephen Rubini.
