Around 85,000 people packed the most exciting race of the season, the Motocross of Nations in Maggiora, exactly 30 years since the legendary 1986 race. And TM’s Samuele Bernardini was teamed up with Michael Cervellin and Antonio Cairoli, the eight-time world champion, for Italy. The first race on Sunday saw the MX2 get on track with the MXGP, Bernardini and Cairoli. Samuele managed to start well and for much of the race holds the 13th place, but the young Tuscan lost some positions and passed under the checkered flag in 16th place.
For Samuele, there was little time to catch his breath as the second heat saw the MX2 and Open. Bernardini had a poor start but did not lose heart and was able to recover several positions, and finished 15th to help Italy to fifth position.
TM’s Marco Ricciardi said: “It was a very difficult race – so much tension for the Nations in Maggiora 30 years on. It was incredible, for an Italian company TM with an Italian rider. A very important event! We did a great job and Samuele managed the strain well. The result is what we set out to do. Now we’ll rest before resuming work for 2017.”
