Ben Watson got the crowd on their feet as he battled for the win in the MX2 qualifying race at the British GP at Matterley. He scrapped for the lead with Thomas-Kjer Olsen and Henry Jacobi, but had to settle for third place on the final lap.
And fellow Briton Conrad Mewse also had a good ride, this time coming through to fifth place after yet again he didn’t get the best of starts. But it wasn’t so great for Adam Sterry as he crashed on the first corner. He also staged a heroic ride through the field and finished a respectable 15th.
Holeshot man was American Darien Sanayei but he slowly drifted back through the field as Jacobi and Watson battled for the front spot. They were eventually joined by Olsen who came through from a sluggish start.
Jago Geerts was behind them in fourth place from Tom Vialle and Mitchell Evans as Mewse began to catch up.
Evans eventually came through to fourth as Mewse took fifth from factory KTM man Vialle. British-born Revo Husky rider DylanWalsh took 11th.
