Former British champion Kristian Whatley faces months of recovery after crashing at the Canada Heights British championship round and breaking his leg.

He was ambulanced out of the venue and taken to a nearby hospital where a broken femur was confirmed.

Whatley said on social media: “Well well well.. I done a femur with the crash I had today. Thanks for everyone’s kind words and the help. My girlfriend Georgia has a long few nights yet bless her.”

His mum Karen confirmed he will have an operation tomorrow.

Whatley was finding his form once again after an off-season injury kept him off the bike for several months. We wish him all the best for a speedy recovery.
